HORACE GREELEY WAS RIGHT
Why Western Kentucky?
The construction of the Jackson Purchase Distillery dates back to 2008, when Tennessee attorney Ray Jamieson sought to produce Kentucky bourbon near his home in Memphis. Like any good whiskey story, accounts vary on how much, if any, whiskey was produced before 2021. That’s when the Jackson Purchase Distillery team assumed ownership and began crafting the first whiskeys from this state-of-the-art facility.
Here in far western Kentucky, we found pristine water and warm summers—the warmest in Kentucky—that age whiskey more rapidly. Some say creating the flavor of a spirit much older than the calendar indicates.
Tradition and Innovation
Our distilling team, led by Master Distiller Craig Beam and Head Distiller Terry Ballard, adheres to many traditional methods of distilling, including 100% copper stills and tried-and-true mashbills. Yet we remain ever-mindful of those creative twists that will give our distillery—and your whiskey—distinct advantages in our competitive marketplace.
WATER
Water is the starting point for any whiskey. Good water (among other things) is necessary to make good whiskey. Great water is a must to make great whiskey.
Grain
Grains become the heart of any whiskey. Our location in the rich Kentucky Grain Belt puts some of the most select grains nearly at our doorstep.
100% Copper Stills
Tradition dictates that we use 100% copper stills. So does taste.
Climate
If we have an ace in the hole, this is it. Jackson Purchase Distillery benefits from the warmest and longest summers in the state of Kentucky.
