Water Source
Deep beneath the rich black soil of the river bottom land and the fertile rolling hills in Western Kentucky lay’s an abundant supply of fresh, sweet water. Jackson Purchase Distillery draws from this source with its own on-site calcium-rich well.
Local Grains & Relationships
Western Kentucky’s vast areas of arable land, drawing from its natural water source, is a distiller’s dream. The surrounding farmlands lie on some of the richest soils of sand, silt, and clay fed from the surrounding river bottomlands. Jackson Purchase Distillery has direct relationships with local farmers to source the region's highest quality corn and wheat for use in the production of our Kentucky bourbon.
100% Copper Still
Our artisan 100% copper still is the best of the best and was crafted by the team of coppersmiths at the famed Vendome Copper and Brass Works. The fabricator located in Louisville KY has a tradition of excellence carrying on now through 4 generations. We believe to capitalize on the finest water and finest grains, the finest still ensures a smoother, less bitter bourbon with the potential of maturing into a great Kentucky bourbon.
Aging & Warehousing
It is thought that Kentucky bourbon gets up to 70% of its sweet flavor notes from the wood in the new charred white oak barrels. The hot humid Western Kentucky summer days draws the whiskey into the wood grain of the barrels where it picks up the deep rich flavors. Jackson Purchase Distillery & Warehouse sit in the warmest region in all of Kentucky, giving our Kentucky bourbon a distinct advantage.
The craft of distilling bourbon has been passed down from generation to generation in the heart of Kentucky, where it has been a way of life since before statehood. Craig Beam, our Master Distiller, has a Kentucky bourbon legacy that stretches back to 1795, when family patriarch Jacob Beam first built a still.
